Between the fingers lives the magic....
Magic lives in our fingers
There's something truly special about having a skein of yarn, rolling around on the floor, and a crochet hook in your hand.
A skein of yarn – a long thread of cotton (or wool, for that matter). It's soft and pretty, sure! But it's just a skein of yarn.
But as soon as you cast on the first stitch, the transformation begins.
With each round that runs through your fingers, the whole thing starts to take shape. A small bowl becomes a head. Two small balls become ears. And suddenly – often at a very specific moment, at least for me – something magical happens. It comes to life. It gets an expression. A personality. For me, it's especially when the eyes are added.
Perhaps that's what I love most about amigurumi. The transformation. From a simple skein of yarn to a little bear with a crooked smile or an elephant with slightly too large ears. And no two figures ever turn out exactly the same – our own personality shapes the final result.
The teddy bear is nicely wrapped. Moves out. Perhaps into a lovely children's room. And if we're lucky, it gets a whole new role. It's the teddy bear that will comfort at bedtime, go on adventures, or be held close when the world gets a bit too big.
A skein of yarn. It's amazing.
Welcome to my blog! Here I will invite you into my amigurumi universe with all the special things we create with our own hands. With just a skein of yarn.
